BALUN PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away in Newmarket's leafy embrace, Balun Park reveals itself as one of those delightful discoveries that makes you wonder why more people don't know about it. The park sprawls alongside the gorgeous Enoggera Creek, where the famous 'Turtle Bridge' offers prime birdwatching - spotted a magnificent spoonbill during my visit, a sure sign this ecosystem is thriving. What strikes you immediately is the park's versatility. Large shady trees provide perfect refuge on scorching Queensland days, while the open green spaces flow seamlessly into a well-designed children's playground. The creek access is a godsend for dog owners - four-legged companions can enjoy a proper swim while parents appreciate the discrete connections to the extensive bikeway network. The park's genius lies in its multiple zones, allowing families to find either bustling social areas or quiet corners for contemplation. Cyclists will appreciate the easy bikeway access, making this an ideal pit-stop during longer rides.
